Wednesday, May 27th, 2009: You can focus on the negatives after being traded to a new team -- finding a new place to stay, leaving teammates and friends, having to start anew -- but one player hopes to focus on the positives. "It means I'm wanted somewhere. At least one team sees potential in me." Those were the comments heard after the Houston Astros came to an agreement to deal 22-year-old minor league third baseman Ebert Rosario to the Chicago Cubs for 21-year-old minor league starting pitcher Jay Jackson earlier today. The deal is expected to be formally announced later this evening.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009: The Astros and Yankees confirmed this afternoon that a trade had been agreed upon. In the deal, Houston will get 16-year-old catcher Gary Sanchez, while New York will receive 25-year-old minor league closer Josh Appell.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009: After prolonged negotiations Chicago agreed to ship 27-year-old starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano, 33-year-old shortstop Marco Scutaro and 29-year-old center fielder Corey Patterson to Cincinnati for 34-year-old third baseman Scott Rolen, 23-year-old starting pitcher Homer Bailey, 20-year-old minor league first baseman Yen-Wen Kuo and 20-year-old minor league shortstop Miguel Rojas. The deal is awaiting confirmation from the league office but neither team expects any hang-ups. "It took longer than expected," said one GM, "but we knew that the deal was going to happen."
On his stats sheet this season Zambrano shows a 5-1 record, 8 starts, 57.2 innings, 52 strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA.
