| Breaking News | | Mixon Twirls No-Hitter Against Storm Wednesday, September 9th, 2009: How do you pitch a no-hitter and lose the game? Ask David Mixon of the San Jose Giants. It happened to him today at Lake Elsinore Diamond. He did not allow the Lake Elsinore Storm to get a single hit, but they won the ballgame 1-0.
"I have never seen anything like it. I didn't think it was possible to lose a game, if the other team went hitless," the San Jose manager told BNN reporters after the historic event.
Mixon really zeroed in on the Storm in his masterpiece, finishing with 6 strikeouts and 5 walks, but not able to chalk up the win.
He said, "Things like this happen in baseball. I remember pitching an 11-inning shutout, only to lose it in the 12th. I was good that day, too. Good stuff... good location... but no cigar. Just like today."
Looking at his season stats, Mixon has won 9 and lost 7, collecting 121 strikeouts and 98 walks in 162.1 innings with a 2.88 ERA. | | CAL News: Playoffs begin Tuesday, September 8th, 2009: California League's quest for the championship is the zenith of any baseball career.
