Sexton Sensational, 5-5
Wednesday, September 9th, 2009: The Hot Rods whipped the Power 4-0 at Bowling Green Ballpark and Gregory Sexton had a big hand in the win. The Hot Rods third baseman came to the plate 5 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Sexton and a tough day for West Virginia.

"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."

Plan or not, Sexton delivered today -- 5-5 is outstanding in any league.

G. Sexton singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

For the year Sexton has hit .289 with no home runs, 10 RBIs and scored 12 runs.
SOU News: Playoffs begin
Tuesday, September 8th, 2009: Some clubs have coasted to make the playoffs -- others have scrapped tooth and nail to get here. After a long, sometimes seemingly endless regular season, it gets down to who can win a short series -- by hook or crook, talent or luck. That's what it takes to capture the South Atlantic League championship. The top teams will vie in the Round 2 starting today:
West Virginia Power versus Bowling Green Hot Rods and Charleston Riverdogs versus Kannapolis Intimidators.
SOU News: Regular Season ends
Tuesday, September 8th, 2009: South Atlantic League has put the wraps on another season. In a few days the playoffs will launch in grand style with the league's elite clubs going up against one another for the ultimate payoff -- the Round 2 crown. For the baseball fan it doesn't get any better than this -- a time of tense duels, where the outcome of the season hinges on one pitch, one play, one hit -- or one break. There is nothing quite like the playoffs.
