Thursday, September 3rd, 2009: The cathedrals of baseball are silent. Another Arizona League season is in the books and what a season it was! The champion has been crowned and the winners sent home to decorate their trophy cases. The fans have been left with many exciting memories to recall over the offseason. League awards will be announced over the coming weeks, but while players head for vacations and the ballparks are empty, there is plenty going on behind the scenes.
The offseason is a time for baseball's front office gurus to turn their attention to getting key players under contract, making key financial decisions and for laying the groundwork for next year's campaign.

 | AZL Crowned Champions
Tuesday, September 1st, 2009: AZL topped AZL 5-4 today at Tempe Diablo Stadium to win the Arizona League Round 1. The Angels took the series 3-1.
"This victory belonged to the entire city of AZL and all of our great fans," said the team's owner as he hoisted the championship trophy for the 1st time. "Our town and our fans support us all the time... in the good times and the bad."
It was an outstanding year for the Angels as they ended up in second place in the Arizona League with a 37-13 regular season mark. |
| ARL News: Playoffs begin
Thursday, August 27th, 2009: The regular season set the stage and pruned down the number of title contenders. Now the clubs that made the cut will go at it on the diamond in the 2009 Arizona League playoffs. It's the first step in the race to win the Round 1 trophy. The Round 1 starts today with these clubs set to battle:
AZL Angels versus AZL Padres.
